Living Wage

Thank you for helping us to realise Living Wages

Welcome to Nature & More’s Living Wage page! Are you buying our Living Wage mangoes and other organic fruits with the Living Wage stamp? By doing this, you help farm workers and factory workers in Africa and Latin America to earn a Living Wage. Have a look at our projects or click the menu.

What is a Living Wage?

“Everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for himself and his family an existence worthy of human dignity”

-Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), Article 23

A Living Wage is defined as a wage that supports a decent standard of living for the worker and her or his family. This includes basis needs like food, clothing and decent housing, but also education, healthcare, and money to save for unexpected life events. A Living Wage is not the same as a minimum wage, because in many countries the legal minimum is much lower than a Living Wage.

The Sustainability Flower is at the heart of everything we do. It is an integrated sustainability model where each petal shows a different impact domain of food production. There can be no sustainability without transparency. Therefore Nature & More uses the Sustainability Flower to measure, manage, market and monetize the sustainability performance of our growers. Living Wage is a very important aspect of the Economy petal, so we highlighted it.

True Cost Calculation

At Nature & More we firmly believe that sustainable food production can only be achieved when hidden impacts on people and planet are given an economic value. Otherwise, the profit-driven economy will always ignore those costs. It is time to get our bookkeeping straight. Once we know the real cost of Living Wages, we and you can take responsibility.
